Our customers select the recipes they would like to cook on our website or through the app. At our fulfilment center in Newark, New Jersey we build their individual meal kit with all the recipes and ingredients our customers need. The final product gets conveniently delivered directly from our warehouse to their doorstep.

We’re looking for a Quality Control Lead in our Fulfillment Center to indirectly oversee a team of 5+ full-time Quality Control Associates. This position will be in our Newark, New Jersey  facility.


Summary/Objective 

The Quality Control Lead coordinates activities of and provides coaching and guidance to workers on the QC team. The QC Lead works alongside and with the team, stepping in as needed to ensure maximum productivity. This position is under the direction of the Quality and Safety Manager(or there assigned subordinates), the QC Lead is responsible for following and enforcing all safety site wide, GMP standards and all company policies/procedures, as well as adherence to PPE/hygiene policies, in cooperation with the Quality and Safety Manager.


Essential Functions 

  • Oversees, trains and works with QC associates to perform daily food safety checks, warehouse safety checks, sanitation monitoring and other tasks that support the entire facilities success and well being. Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to GMP enforcement, allergen control, food defense and line checks.
  • Serve as a quality liaison with FSQA site lead and ensure consistent practices and deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Implement best practices for quality assurance processes and safety protocols; develop and utilize benchmark-based metrics, and develop & maintain reporting on these measures to ensure continuous improvement and provide needed information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide oversight of ES&H Programs and integrate them into the QMS.
  • Conduct internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with Marley Spoon policies and procedures and implements corrective actions as required.
  • Respectfully support and follow direction from supervisor or management and complete tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Reports and addresses all food safety, workplace safety, and sanitation issues to an immediate supervisor
  • Responsible for following standard operating procedures and training new QC associates on standard operating procedures (food safety, workplace safety, GMP, allergens, CCPs, food defense, PPE / hygiene policies)
  • Maintains the work area in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Aids in non-conforming identifications.
  • Communication: Expresses ideas and thoughts clearly with tact and diplomacy, working with other departments to collaborate and solve problems
  • Communication: Working knowledge of Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs and Microsoft Office
  • Time Management: maintaining momentum and keeping on task to meet goals and deadlines.
  • Detail oriented. Have an eye for detail, pride yourself in high quality work and efficiently getting things done.
  • Must be able to stand for an extended period of time. Must be able to twist, turn and bend repetitively to pack our boxes.
  • Must be comfortable in a cold warehouse/manufacturing environment with temperatures ranging from 38 to 52 degrees.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in quality control of a food manufacturing facility or similar setting preferred
  • Familiarity with the development and operation of management reporting systems
  • Ability to develop and present senior staff-level briefings and management reports.
  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement approaches and change management.
  • Knowledge of fresh produce standards
  • Clear and concise communicator, verbal and written English and Spanish preferred
  • New Jersey Food Handlers Managers Card preferred
  • Must satisfactorily complete a background check
  • Must be able to work weekends, overtime and holidays as required
