Junior Test Kitchen Assistant

We are looking for an ambitious and bright self-starter who has an appreciation and interest in all things food to join our Culinary team in Alexandria, Australia. Our ideal candidate is an organised, food technologist, or skilled home cook who is committed to assisting us to bring delightful, easy cooking to our customers. The position will support a busy test kitchen in a very dynamic, fast-growing food-focused environment.

At Marley Spoon, we create quick, easy and delicious recipes that will inspire you every week. You select what you would like to cook and we deliver the recipes and all the ingredients you need.

Your job

  • Manage the test kitchen’s needs:
    • Assisting recipe testers with ingredient preparation
    • Basic food preparation
    • Cleaning the test kitchen
    • General maintenance
    • Ordering of ingredients
    • Accepting deliveries and organising the pantry
    • Inventory
    • Some shopping (preferably has own vehicle - all costs reimbursed)
    • Opportunity to assist with recipe testing and preparation (and involvement) of photo shoots
    • Opportunity to develop recipe testing skills
    • Support and assist Culinary Team and Directors on a daily basis with all culinary tasks

 

This is you:

  • Great attention to detail
  • Genuinely passionate about food and have a basic and general understanding of different ingredients  
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment where priorities can shift quickly
  • Culinary training/basic experience in the kitchen (preferred but not essential)
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Facile multi-tasker with a proactive attitude
  • Highly competent in basic computer skills  (Google docs, MS Excel, Adobe Photoshop and proprietary software)
  • Team player who has the confidence to make decisions, and own them.
  • Confident communication skills
